How to protect your room when decorating

Protect your room from paint splatters with these great tips.

  1. First, remove pictures, paintings, ornaments and wall hangings and store them somewhere safe.

  2. Move your furniture into the middle of the room to allow you to move around more easily.

  3. Cover your furniture with a clear plastic sheet so you and your family can see what’s underneath and don’t put things on top of it by mistake.

  4. You will want to protect your carpet. Use 5cm wide masking tape and overlap slightly with the baseboard. Use a scraper to push the tape down under the baseboard.

  5. A clean sheet will protect the floor from paint and create a non-slip surface if you’re using a ladder. Look for a sheet with a plastic backing, as this will be much more effective against spillages.

  6. Use masking tape to cover details like door handles and knobs.
